This blog has some of the thoughts about life in general : encompassing parenting , a bit of spritualism and some motivational stuff that I would want to share with all. Some pieces I have written myself (very very few) and whenever I find something interesting I do a copy and paste (I do this most of the time!). Happy Reading :-)

Mushrooms
During my walk this morning saw a fresh white mushroom. Then thought one would say its Gods creation. Then the thought prevailed that some mushrooms are good to eat and feed other hungry beings. Then it occurred some are poisonous too.. And then the final thought though was, just like humans ( Gods creation, some useful to others, some poisonous too!!)
STORY OF THE DIRTY LAUNDRY
A young couple moved into a new neighborhood.
The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hang the washed laundry outside.
"That laundry is not very clean", she said, "she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."
Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.
About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:
"Look! She has learnt how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this."
The husband said: "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows!"
And so it is with life:
"What we see when we are watching others, depends on the purity of the window through which we look.
Before we give any criticism, it might be a good idea to check our state of mind and ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good rather than to be looking for something in the person we are about to judge."
What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our Life of tomorrow.
Our life is a creation of our mind.
Stress means the gap between expectations & reality. More the gap, more the stress.
Don't believe in Tit for Tat rule...
because you can't bite a dog who has bitten you...
so don't spoil your level just to teach others...
moral......
"Think twice, Act wise."
Learn to "LET GO". Because You cannot even have the next breath until you let go the existing one.
Dear Jasveer, hope I can share such messages here in future. Thanks

The Apple Tree
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, and took a nap under the shadow.
He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by, the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad.
“Come and play with me”, the tree asked the boy.
“I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more” the boy replied.
“I want toys. I need money to buy them.”
“Sorry, but I do not have money, but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.”
The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited.
“Come and play with me” the tree said.
“I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?”
“Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted.
“Come and play with me!” the tree said.
“I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” said the man.
“Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.”
So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you”, the tree said. “No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite” the
man replied.
“No more trunk for you to climb on.” “I am too old for that now” the man said. “I really cannot give you anything, the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.
“I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years,” the man replied.
“Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, come sit down with me and rest.” The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.
This is a story of everyone. The tree is like our parents. When we were young, we loved to play with our Mum and Dad. When we grow up, we leave them; only come to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could just to make you happy.
You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that is how all of us treat our parents. We take them for granted; we don’t appreciate all they do for us, until it’s too late.

After a while
After a while – Veronica A. Shoffstall
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn’t mean leaning
and company doesn’t always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren’t contracts
and presents aren’t promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn…
Teacher & Guru
Teacher is different from a Guru
Teacher Guru A teacher takes responsibility of your growth A Guru makes you responsible for your growth. A teacher gives you things you do not have and require A Guru takes away things you have and do not require. A teacher answers your questions A Guru questions your answer A teacher helps you get out of the maze A Guru destroys your maze A teacher requires obedience and discipline from the pupil A Guru requires trust and humility from the pupil A teacher clothes you and prepares you for the outer journey A Guru strips you naked and prepares you for the inner journey A teacher is a guide on the path A Guru is the pointer to the way A teacher sends you on the road to success A Guru sends you on the road to freedom When the course is over you are thankful to the teacher When the discourse is over you are grateful to the Guru A teacher explains the world and its nature to you A Guru explains yourself and your nature to you A teacher makes you understand how to move about in the world A Guru shows you where you stand in relation to the world A teacher gives you knowledge and boosts your ego A Guru takes away your knowledge and punctures your ego A teacher instructs you A Guru constructs you A teacher sharpens your mind A Guru opens your mind A teacher shows you the way to prosperity A Guru shows the way to serenity A teacher reaches your mind A Guru touches your soul A teacher gives you knowledge A Guru makes you wise A teacher gives you maturity A Guru returns you to innocence A teacher instructs you on how to solve problems A Guru shows you how to resolve issues A teacher is a systematic thinker A Guru is a lateral thinker A teacher will punish you with a stick A guru will punish you with compassion A teacher is a pupil what a father is to son A Guru is to pupil what mother is to her child One can always find a teacher But Guru has to find and accept you A teacher leads you by the hand A Guru leads you by example When a teacher finishes with you, you graduate When a Guru finishes with you, you celebrate
Respect & Ego
There are two types of respect.
1. Respect that comes to you because of your position, fame or wealth. This type of respect is impermanent. It can be lost once you lose your wealth or status.
2. Respect that comes because of your virtues like honesty, kindness, commitment, patience and your smile. This respect, no one can take away.
The less you are attached to your virtues, the more self respect you have. If you get attached to your virtues, you look down upon everybody else and they (the virtues) start diminishing. Non- attachment to virtues brings the highest self respect.
Often one confuses ego with self esteem. Ego needs the other for comparision, self esteem is just confidence in oneself. For example, a gentleman claims that he is thorough in Mathematics or Geography, this is self esteem. But to say that I know better than you, that is Ego.
Ego simply means lack of respect to the Self.
Ego upsets you very often. Self esteem is immune to getting upset by external factors. In self respect, everything is a game, winning or losing has no meaning, every step is joy, every move is celebration.
In Self esteem you simply realise you have it. - HHSSRS
